Project Overview

The Heidelberg Materials Crushing Plant & Workshop project in Luscombe, Queensland forms part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades supporting quarry processing and transport operations.

JKR Group Australia Pty Ltd was engaged by Ridge Projects Australia Pty Ltd to deliver the structural steel and mechanical installation works for the new crushing and screening plant, associated conveyor infrastructure and transport workshop facility.

JKR’s scope included fabrication coordination, delivery, erection of structural steel, installation of access platforms and conveyor support systems, along with construction of the transport workshop. All works were completed within a live quarry environment, requiring detailed planning, strict safety controls and close coordination with ongoing site operations.

Project Challenges

  • Live Operational Environment: The facility incorporated a complex steel structure exceeding 21 metres in height, requiring staged erection and accurate sequencing across multiple levels. 
  • Structural & Mechanical Coordination: The integration of structural steel, conveyor systems and processing infrastructure required accurate sequencing and installation alignment. 
  • Safety & Quality Compliance: All works were delivered in accordance with strict project-specific safety and quality requirements within a high-risk industrial environment.

Solution

JKR Group implemented a staged construction approach to safely coordinate structural and mechanical works alongside ongoing quarry operations.

The team managed fabrication coordination, steel erection and installation activities in line with project sequencing requirements, ensuring all structures and systems were installed efficiently and to specification. Close collaboration with the head contractor supported safe site access, workflow continuity and program delivery throughout the project.
